Privacy Policy

Talos ("we," "our," or "the app") is a Mac application for photographers. This privacy policy explains how Talos handles your information. We do not store your data on our servers. All of your data stays on your Mac unless you use AI features, which require sending data to our API for processing.
Information Stored on Your Mac
Talos stores the following only on your Mac: Folder selection — The folder path you choose and a security-scoped bookmark so the app can access it on future launches. Image metadata cache — AI-generated descriptions and tags for images, cached locally for faster browsing. Conversation history — Your chats with the photography instructor, stored per image. App settings — Preferences and configuration. This data is stored in the app's local database and in your chosen folder (e.g., XMP sidecar files). It is not sent to or stored on our servers.
Information Sent for AI Features
When you use AI features (image descriptions, tags, or the photography instructor chat), Talos sends the following to our API for processing: Images — Resized copies of the images you select or process. Text — Your messages in the instructor chat and any prompts used for tagging. This data is sent over HTTPS to provide the AI features. We do not retain or store this data on our servers. It is processed in real time and not saved by us.
Third-Party Services
Apple — In-app purchases and subscription verification are handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy. AI processing — Our API may use third-party AI services to process your requests. Data is sent only for processing and is not retained by us.
Data Retention
On your Mac — Data remains until you delete the app, clear the saved folder, or remove the app's data. On our servers — We do not store your images or conversation content.
Your Choices
AI features — You can avoid sending data to our API by not using description/tagging or the instructor chat. Local data — You can clear the saved folder in Settings or delete the app to remove local data. Conversations — You can export conversations from Settings; they remain stored locally until you delete them.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Folder access uses macOS security-scoped bookmarks. The app runs in the macOS sandbox where applicable.
Children
Talos is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Summary
